OUR TEAM

John W. Gulzow

Chief Operations Officer | Vice President

John Gulzow, COO and Vice President joined the Arizona Pipeline team in 1990. When John arrived, he not only had the experience of building the largest underground substructure project west of the Mississippi at its time in 1979, he also had 21 years of “hands on experience” in the Power and Communication industry. Along with that knowledge, he also brought numerous accomplishments and certifications. As a former Marine, John learned at an early age for one to be successful, you must remain focused on your objective (he had served as “point man” on a reconnaissance team while serving in Viet Nam). He brought his sturdy resolve and fortitude, along with the ability to focus on the importance of execution and commitment to the company, as well as to our customers.

When first brought aboard, the Power and Communication Division of Arizona Pipeline was faced with many industry challenges. With his expertise and determination, he started re-building the Corona division. He was able to accomplish this by his aptitude and foresight in hiring experienced, dedicated and principled managers to continue with the VISION of founder, Duane Moyers.

John started as a Superintendent in charge of several crews; he quickly moved up the ranks to become the General Superintendent, managing many crews. After 4 years, John became Division Manager of the Underground/ Communication Division in Corona, California. With securing a long term contract, the Division grew from 70 to 450 employees strong and at that time John was named Vice President of Arizona Pipeline Company. Shortly after that, with his extraordinary foresight and the ability to get the “job done”, he stepped into the position of COO, Vice President and now he oversees all divisions.

John resides in Cota de Caza, California with his wife, Carol…along with daughters, and son-in-law and two grandsons who live nearby. John enjoys golfing and is a competitor in Triathlons and has successfully completed five Ironman races. John and his wife are members of the Saddleback Church in Orange County.
